Kyoto - Must Try Bakery Shinshindo

If Komeda is the must try coffee chain store in Nagoya, then Shinshindo is the must try in Kyoto! Their bread tastes awesome. Quick, put this on your to do list in Kyoto.

Shinshindo was founded in 1913 in Kyoto, Japan. The founder Hitoshi Tsuzuki was the first Japanese baker to visit Paris to learn authentic French baking.

I was told that during breakfast period (7:00-11:00), you can have as much bread as you like when you order "Premium Breakfast" or "Special Breakfast". However, this bread buffet is only available in the Kitayama branch (北山店) and the Sanjo branch (三条河原町店). The Sanjo branch has a European style interior decoration.

If you're in a hurry, consider purchasing bread from one of the bakery shops (indicated in green). My mum bought a custard bun from bakery store in the central exit of JR Kyoto Station. She highly recommend the bun. As for me, I purchased and ate an Apricot and Custard Danish. The quality was really good, considering that I left it overnight :P

Then we went to have breakfast at one of the bakery & self-style cafe (indicated in yellow) on the next day! The coffee and sandwiches were also delicious.
