Rainy Day in Sinchon: Jeon & Makkeolli Day

We've decided to stop by one of the Buchimgae houses in Sinchon on a rainy day.

The pig trotters and Korean pancake were huge in portion!

On rainy days, Korean likes to eat Pajeon and Makkeolli (전 & 막걸리). Pajeon is Korean pancake and Makkeolli is Korean milky rice wine.

Perhaps the sound of rain reminded them of the sizzling sound of pancake in a frying pan. Perhaps people crave food that are rich in serotonin when they feel down on rainy days. Anyway, the restaurant was introduced to us by a Korean friend.

It was so quiet when we looked inside in the afternoon. A lady was busy cutting bits and pieces of seafood when we arrived.

The interior was very special. It looks as if we have traveled back in time. It also features a balcony upstairs where you can oversee the whole place.

It has antique writings and paintings on the walls.

We ordered Korean pancake, pig trotters and rice wine. It has a very generous amount of seafood. As for the pig trotters, it is tasty and chewy. Pig trotters are filled with collagen and good for the skin. It is a great way to spend an afternoon with your family and friends on a rainy day.

Pork Hocks (medium) 26,900 won, (large) 29,900
Dongdrae Pancake 15,900 won

The exterior of the restaurant looked like this:
