Nagoya - International Hotel Nagoya (Sakae) Review

I would like to recommend a hotel that I really like in Nagoya: International Hotel Nagoya.

International Hotel Nagoya is located at the heart of Nagoya. You can walk to Oasis 21, Nagoya TV Tower and the Hisaya-Odori Park on foot. Great for families and budget travelers.

International Nagoya Hotel is only 2 minutes away from Exit 8 of Sakae Station.

Exit 8 is right beneath Sunshine Sakae. You can find Tully's Coffee, SKE48 Cafe and a few bookstores there.



Here's what the hotel looks like at night. It's the building on the right (not the karaoke on the left!).



Tourist information and maps are provided at the counter, free of charge.

The staff are really friendly. They confirmed our booking at an onsen ryokan and provided us with free bottled water during our stay.



There is a coffee shop in the lobby of the hotel. Great for a relaxing breakfast or afternoon tea!



The room is quite spacious (compared to Tokyo standards). Twin bed is better than double bed, if you want a good night's rest...



Department stores in Japan are open until 8 pm. But don't worry, you can always go to the Don Quixote. It's open 24 hours! The ground floor is the food department.



Time for some late night snack...



Later in the night, we followed the map provided by the hotel and found one of the "food streets"nearby.



We've decided to try Nagoya's specialty dishes at Gomitori  a Japanese bar (Izakaya). During our first night in Nagoya, we've already tried many local dishes including: deep fried pork cutlet with red miso, chicken wings and miso stew!





If you're looking for seafood, Sapporo Kanihonke (札幌かに本家) is also available on the "food street". KFC, Sukiya and ramen are also within walking distance to the hotel.




Overall, I would recommend International Hotel Nagoya. It is conveniently located in Sakae, a place with plenty of options for dinner and night life. Just be careful not to wander into the red light district if you're traveling with family :D
